The Fab Managers Forum 2015 will again be dedicated to the topic of manufacturing efficiency. The competitive situation for European semiconductor manufacturers in particular related to Asian and American companies is being dominated by growing challenges. Increasing costs of production and logistical challenges that are hard to control will play a major role for the future of Europe’s semiconductor industry.
The competitiveness of existing wafer fabs can only be sustained and developed through continuous improvement of key performance indicators.
Focus will be put on the achievement of a 100% utilization of equipment in the fabs. The introduction and systematic implementation of the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) methodology has proven its worth in various European fabs and will be expanded. Therefore one of the main focus topics for this years’ Fab Managers Forum will be on the OEE implementation, its status as well as an outlook on how to achieve substantial effects with moderate investments.
A second focus topic will be on the logistics related to the procurement of raw materials and chemicals and their usage in the fabs. The comprehensive changes in legal requirements as well as the continuous consolidation in Europe make efficient manufacturing more and more difficult in the future. The event will not only look at the perspectives of the semiconductor manufacturers but also take into account the viewpoints of the raw material and chemicals suppliers considering the related business and legal aspects.

Who should attend?

FAB operations and engineering management, senior managers and experts from the suppliers and services companies and related research and development partners. This forum will have sessions of short presentations, closing with the very popular and interactive Fab Managers Executive Panel. To take full advantage of the opportunity to network with other attendees, we will have a Reception/Dinner on Monday evening. Some topics addressed at the FMF on Tuesday morning will get a coverage in more depth in the SEMICON Europa Technical Programs sessions.
